How To Use poowiki

Those of you who have used a wiki before will know that a certain etiquette is required in order to make it work effectively.

This is because you are granted permission to do considerably more than you should do. Once you have been accepted as a contributor, you can write to, amend or delete any page in the wiki.

There is no concept of "ownership" of a page. If you were to write a new page and fill it with personal stuff about yourself then any other contributor could come along and re-write the lot of it.

Naturally, we wouldn't want that sort of thing to happen and so we expect our contributors to follow our Guidelines.

poowiki is incredibly easy to use. You can develop a wiki page very quickly without having the slightest knowledge of web page design.

To start a new page all you have to do is pretend that it already exists! Yes, that's right! Just think of a name for it, and go to it as if it's already there, e.g.

http://pooclub.pbwiki.com/YourNewPage

You'll be asked for your password, then you're in! Type your stuff, save it and you're done. You can find out how to use the fancy formatting codes here, but the best way to learn is simply to look at someone else's page (say, this one). Click on the 'edit' button and look at the way its been constructed. You might like to copy it to a new page to use as a template that you can edit with your own content.
