Mike's Art Exhibition

We were decking out a holiday villa to rent out for holiday lets and we’d got all the furniture and accessories done, but the walls were still bare. We hadn’t got any pictures yet. Anyway, try as we might we couldn’t find any local artwork that we liked or wasn’t too expensive.

So, my wife bought this plain canvas, brushes and oil paints and said, “Right, Mike, you paint something.” Now, my craft is photography, or if I am to use paints it’ll be a big tin of emulsion for the walls or some gloss for the woodwork.

Anyway, I’m glad I did do an oil painting because it means that I can now add “artist” to my not inconsiderable list of talents and I don’t have to paint another one to prove anything. After all, once you can paint one picture you can paint another, but you’d be better off taking a photograph because it’s quicker.

So, here is my one and only painting, which I have entitled “fish”.

But next time I want a picture of a fish I’m going to photograph one.
